AngelThread®

Core technology

Silver at the atomic scale, antimicrobial inside the fiber.

AngelThread® developed semiconductor-grade vacuum vapor deposition in Taiwan. A fab-floor physical process, brought into textile yarn — no chemistry, no coatings, no finishing.

Three scales, three fates

Why scale matters.

From bulk to nano to atomic, every order of magnitude smaller is an order of magnitude stronger — but "will it wash out" is what really decides.

> 1 µm

Bulk metallic silver (Agbulk)

Form
Flakes / powder
Effect
Slow Ag⁺ release, weak antimicrobial
Weakness
Too inefficient

500–800 nm

Silver nanoparticles (AgNP)

Form
Surface coating / finishing
Effect
Short-term strong, but peels, leaches
Weakness
Washes off, biocompatibility concerns
AngelThread®

< 1 nm

AngelThread atomic silver (Ag⁰)

Form
Embedded in fiber body
Effect
Strongest reaction, won't wash off or leach
Weakness

Process

A physical process from the fab floor.

Traditional antimicrobial textiles depend on dyeing, coating or finishing. AngelThread® puts silver inside — not on top.

  1. 01

    Vacuum sputtering

In a high-vacuum chamber, silver atoms are sputtered onto a polymer film — physical deposition, zero chemical solvents.

  2. 02

    Masterbatch

Silver-bearing film is converted into PET masterbatch pellets with silver atoms uniformly distributed.

  3. 03

    Spinning extrusion

Pellets are extruded into continuous filament. Silver is locked inside the PET structure, never on the surface.

  4. 04

    Weaving

100% antimicrobial polyester yarn, or blended with cotton / nylon / elastane for brand customers.

How it works

Why Ag⁺ kills microbes.

AngelThread®'s silver is embedded atoms, not an added biocide. In contact with sweat and ambient moisture, trace Ag⁺ releases slowly. Three mechanisms — all well-documented in literature.

  1. 01

    Disrupts cell membrane

Ag⁺ binds to negatively-charged membrane components, damaging structure and protective barrier.

  2. 02

    Inhibits enzymes

Ag⁺ inactivates intracellular metabolic enzymes, blocking energy pathways. Cells can't sustain function.

  3. 03

    Blocks DNA replication

Ag⁺ binds bacterial DNA, interfering with replication and division — reducing colony size at the base.

A side effect of doing silver right

AngelThread® atomic-silver antimicrobial technology replaces chemical biocide dyeing

83% average reduction.

Traditional antimicrobial finishing depends on silver chloride dipping, drying and post-treatment — water-heavy, energy-heavy, chemical-heavy, wastewater-heavy. Physical deposition swaps chemistry for physics. Internal LCA on 10,000-yard production:
